In September 2004, Spanish was introduced into the curriculum. Students in grades six, seven and eight have a 45 minute class period once a week. Grades K-5 will have a 30 minute class once a week. PreK will be exposed to the Spanish language and culture in the classroom. Material covered includes Spanish vocabulary for days, months, numbers, shapes, and colors. Students also polish conversational skills with lessons in Spanish grammar with emphasis on verbs and pronouns, and the distinction between familiar and formal greetings. The Spanish culture is studied, as is the influence of the Spanish language in the world around them.
